yo Stark began to suffer from advanced degenerative nerve damage caused by the tech in his spine, and he was forced to fake his death and enter into a cryostasis while scientists figured out how to save his life, though he let even his closest friends think he had died. just saying that's how he was supposed to survive past endgame goes but there were more battles than ya could count that were supposed to happen before he died.

Guys, I think we all know that Tony Stark is dead. There was even talk about there being deleted scenes where they showed Tony in the afterlife.

@mickieani Can you just tell us what you think about this instead of coming here and saying how Iron Man's death wasn't sad, or that you don't like the hero music for Tony? Being passive aggressive isn't going to make people listen, much less agree with you.
