==MISSING PARTS==
The build is 99% exact, just one part missing that I replaced with a tiny "[MOC] Part 4746" assembly (seven bricks) within the "Engine" group.

Lego has been producing "Bonus/Value Packs" since the beginning of the eighties, if not earlier, bundling a few small exclusive sets in special promo packaging. My favorites were the "assorted" packs that Lego introduced later in the 1990s—mix-n-matching several different themes, such as Town, Space, Castle, or Pirates, in one set.

Pretty good marketing strategy: boosting children's imagination some more, but at the same time, planting "brand awareness" seeds for not one, but three or more Lego themes (each with dozens of models to collect). All with a budget toy's purchase, one that's supposed to save parents' buck too.

This set no. 1843 "Space/Castle Value Pack" came out in 1996, exclusive to North America. Both subsets, around 50 parts each, were only available in this package. They came in one box: split horizontally to show both artworks, promo blasts all over it, and a cutout for store's racks on top.

=1843-2: 'SPYRIUS FOLD-WING SPACECRAFT'=
Also known as 'Spyrius Attacker' (both names are unofficial, btw), it was one of only two Spyrius sets that came out after this "Space" subtheme launched in 1994. Lego added only one tiny "Surveillance Scooter" no. 1954 next year and then discontinued the series.

The spacecraft is just excellent, with two foldable wings, and looks great in both configurations. Complete with Spyrian trooper in a helmet.

=1843-3: 'ROYAL KNIGHT'S CATAPULT=
The second subset represented "Castle," specifically the 'Royal Knights' subtheme. Apparently, this Catapult was the only siege vehicle in the series—even larger Royal Knights' models, such as the set no. 6090 "Royal Knight's Castle" or "Royal Drawbridge" no. 6078, had no catapults or battering rams. So it's a somewhat historically significant build too.

The model is well-thought and elegant, a rugged chariot on wooden wheels with a foldable brake in the front, and a moving arm to shoot 1x2 bricks. Unlike Spyrius' "Spacecraft," this subset has plenty of accessories and weapons for the minifigure, with mounts on the catapult to carry them around.

On the instructions' leaflet backside, there's my favorite little detail: a traditional "suggested alternative build," utilizing bricks from both subsets! What a goofy and odd-looking apparatus, some classic mid-nineties Lego "imagination off-the-charts" craze: interstellar dragon-horse with wagon wheels, I suppose? Curiously, all known scans online miss that page, but one can still glance thanks to this helpful and lovely video review by Maniac4Bricks; just rewind and pause at 1 min 58 secs: https://youtu.be/-Y_-Rsu_RoU?t=118

This is an example of the "Super Model Building Instructions"—another curious Lego 'bonus' format, which provided only instructions for a large build with parts from three standard Blacktron sets.

A bit more ordinary 'Value Pack,' where all subsets are from the same theme.
